BATURAJA – As a form of concern for the environment, PT Semen Baturaja Tbk (SMBR) as a subsidiary of PT Semen Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (SIG) handed over 3 units of waste containers and 15 units of 2 in 1 waste boxes with a capacity of 50 liters.

Previously, the handover was carried out symbolically by SMBR Main Director Suherman Yahya to Assistant 1 for Government and People’s Welfare of Ogan Komering Ulu Regency (OKU) Indra Susanto to coincide with SMBR’s 49th anniversary which was held on Tuesday (14/11) in Ganesha Wisma Hall, Baturaja.

Furthermore, on Friday (17/11) at the Wisma Ganesha Hall, the assistance was physically handed over by the SMBR Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Unit Staff to the Head of the OKU Environmental Service, Ahmad Firdaus.

“Thank God, today Semen Baturaja again provided assistance with 3 units of waste containers and 15 units of 2 in 1 waste boxes with a capacity of 50 liters. We are very grateful for this assistance. “For this reason, representing the OKU Regency Government, I would like to thank Semen Baturaja,” said Ahmad.

SMBR’s concern for the waste problem in OKU Regency, he said, was not the only time, but had been demonstrated in previous years. “Last year, we were also given assistance for 2 Garbage Motorcycles by Semen Baturaja,” he said.

This need is in line with the increasing amount of waste in OKU Regency, which reaches 500 tons of waste a day. In addition, the acceleration of the increase in waste containers is not balanced with the damage to the containers, including the increase in the amount of waste.

Meanwhile, Senior Manager of CSR SMBR Gili Aprial Braja said that this waste container assistance was provided as a form of concern for the environment, especially OKU Regency and the provision of this assistance was in line with the BUMN Social and Environmental Responsibility Program (TJSL).

To the OKU Regency DLH, Gili hopes that these waste containers will be used as well as possible to transport waste from the community to the final disposal site (TPA). “Apart from that, this container is well maintained so that it can be used sustainably in the long term,” he concluded.(*)
