The Company operating in the cement industry realizes the risks arising from its operations on workers and the environment. The Company is consistently determined to always protect workers, Company’s assets, the environment and the surrounding community from potential hazards as well as manage and improve the quality of the environment to accomplish sustainable improvements and the principles of sustainable development goals (SDGs).

As a manifestation and commitment of the Company in realizing sustainable environmental management, the Company makes numerous efforts from setting policies andregulations to monitoring and managing factory operational activities that have an impact on the environment both within the factory and the surrounding area.

The Company realizes that operational activities affect the environment, both from the use of energy as the main factor of production and manufacturing externalities in the form of emissions (greenhouse gases/GHG, air pollution, and dust emissions), as well as waste (solid and liquid). The Company’s policy therefore emphasizes the importance of environmental management to achieve energy efficiency, emission control, and the reduction and utilization of Hazardous waste.

In performing environmentally responsible operations, the Company ensures that these activities comply with international standards by implementing an Environmental Management System based on ISO 14001:2015 and SNI 19 – 14001:2005 – Environmental Management System and
ISO/IEC 17025:2017 – Laboratory Management System for improve the effectiveness of environmental management activities that include environmental management systems, environmental audits and environmental performance evaluations.

In conducting operational activities, therefore, the Company always consolidates it with environmental quality improvement programs by doing the following:

1. The Company always prioritizes the principle of Reduce,
   Reuse, Recycle (3R) in all its activities.
2. Implement continuous improvement system by selecting
   environmentally friendly & energy efficient technology
   process equipped with built-in waste control equipment.
3. Increase the effectiveness of environmental
   management activities that include environmental
   management systems, environmental audits, and
   evaluation of environmental performance.
4. Participate in the PROPER program as a means to assess
   the achievement of the Company’s environmental
   performance

Semen Baturaja also regularly monitors environmental quality, such as monitoring chimney air emissions, monitoring ambient air quality, monitoring environmental noise, monitoring blasting vibrations, monitoring domestic waste water quality, and monitoring the quality of mining water.
