Social & Environmental Responsibility
As a company that manages natural resources in the cement industry, Semen Baturaja is committed to providing maximum economic, social and environmental benefits to all stakeholders. Not only for local governments, customers, and work partners, but also for communities, working partners, and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) in the operating areas.
The communities in and around the operational areas have a significant impact on the sustainability of the Company’s business. We recognize that the development and success of the Company is reflected in the progress of the communities surrounding the operating region. We, therefore, always prioritize good business practices, social justice, and environmental justice in accordance with applicable laws and norms so that the Company can be sustainable and provide benefits to the communities around our operating areas.
In order for the community’s economy to prosper, we also have a mission to improve community welfare and independence in operational areas through various direct and indirect contributions. The Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Department distributes this contribution through the SOEs’ Social and Environmental Responsibility (ESR) program.
Every TJSL Program activity is frequently evaluated by visiting to the field or partnering with the government and local institutions to ensure that the method of benefit distribution is effective and on target.
We have a Social and Environmental Responsibility initiative that helps us contribute to the community. Based on Ministerial Regulation PER-05/MBU/04/2021, SOEs are
required to implement the SOEs’ CSR Program by adhering with the provisions specified in the Regulation of the Minister of SOEs.
The SOEs’ ESR program aims to provide benefits for economic development, social development, environmental development, as well as legal and governance development for companies. Moreover, it also contributes to the creation of added value for the company with integrated, directed principles and having a measurable and accountable impact. The scope of the SOEs’ CSR program is divided into 4 main pillars based on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including:
1. Social Pillar
2. Economic Pillar
3. Environment Pillar
4. Legal and Governance Pillar
From the mapping results of the SOE cluster grouping, Semen Baturaja is included in the SOEs’ Infrastructure Services cluster with TPB priorities, including:
1. Social Pillar
To achieve the fulfillment of quality basic human rights in a fair and equal manner to improve the whole community welfare;

2. Economic Pillar
To achieve quality economic growth through sustainable employment and business opportunities, innovation, inclusive industry, adequate infrastructure, affordable

The Company allocates ESR program funds throughout the Republic of Indonesia by prioritizing the surrounding area of the Company.
ESR ACTIVITIES OF SOE
ESR activities are focused on four pillars in accordance with Ministerial Regulation PER- 05/MBU/04/2021. The four pillars include Social, Economic, Environmental, Legal, & Governance.
- Social
The social pillar covers activities in the fields of education, health, socio-culture, natural disasters, and infrastructure intended to the community and institutions or agencies around the operational area. Through contributions in these fields, Semen Baturaja seeks to improve the capability, health,
and welfare of the community, especially in combating the COVID-19 pandemic.
- Economy
The economic pillar includes activities that support the community’s economy, such as supporting and funding MSMEs to create economic independence.
- Environment
The Environmental Pillar includes activities that support the nature and environment conservation in collaboration with communities, institutions, and communities around the operational areas. Besides raising contributions to environmental conservation, these activities also help increase public awareness on the importance of environmental conservation.
During 2024, the distribution of the BUMN Semen Baturaja TJSL Program based on SDGs priorities has been realized at IDR 2,423,554,988 with the following priority descriptions:
