Semen Baturaja together with BUMN Millennials Cleaned Up 1.6 Tons of Garbage Around the Musi River

PALEMBANG – On Friday (14/7), PT Semen Baturaja Tbk (SMBR) Millennials together with 11 BUMNs participated in the BUMN Youth Environmental Movement program “Musi River Clean Up” from the Ministry of BUMN.

As many as 135 BUMN Millennials carried out a cleaning action around the Musi River Jukung Pier which started at 13.00 WIB. The amount of waste collected is 1.6 tons.

This activity is also in collaboration with Startup Plustik, a startup that makes products from processed plastic waste. The collected waste will be recorded and processed into a useful product.

The Head of Millennial SMBR Paulus Kartiko, when met at the Jukung Pier, explained that this activity was to build public awareness of cleanliness in the Musi River area. SMBR Millennials really support this program. “This activity is also a form of company participation in realizing environmental sustainability,” he said.

The Indonesian celebrity, Nadia Mulya, was also present at this activity. Nadia Mulya is concerned about environmental issues.

Since 2015, Nadia Mulya has joined the Indonesian Plastic Bag Diet Movement to campaign for the importance of reducing the use of plastic bags to reduce plastic pollution on earth.

“This program can increase public knowledge about sustainable waste management and increase awareness of environmental sustainability,” said Nadia.

This action shows BUMN’s commitment to continue to make a real contribution in waste management and provide education and create awareness to the public about the importance of the dangers of plastic waste to humans and the environment.(*)
