Semen Baturaja Readies to Supply Cement for Welfare Housing Development, Signed a Deal with South Sumatra Social Welfare CSR Forum

PALEMBANG– The Company of Semen Baturaja will supply the cement necessary for the development of welfare housing in South Sumatra.

The collaboration between SMBR with South Sumatra Social Welfare CSR Forum is being listed within the memorandum of understanding signed directly by SMBR Main Director, Jobi Triananda Hasjim, with Social Welfare CSR Forum of South Sumatra, July Rianthony. The procession was being observed firsthand by the Governor of South Sumatra, Herman Deru.

The signing of the memorandum was done in the Ballroom of Hotel Aryaduta in Palembang, on Tuesday, 21 October 2019. The memorandum shall be operational upon signing and will have duration of 5 (five) years.

Jobi has stated that with the existence of this agreement, SMBR will become the sole supplier of the cement necessities, either sack of cement or bulk cement, while also providing concrete bricks for the housing construction that is planned to start on 2020.

The plan, as initiated by the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing of Republic of Indonesia  together with South Sumatra Social Welfare SCR Forum, will aim to build 1172 (one thousand one hundred seventy two) housing units for Palembang city and 800 (eight hundred) units for the region of Banyuasin district.

“We will always strive to contribute in every kind of construction projects in South Sumatra, it is our pride and joy in knowing people there recognizing our (SMBR) hard work“, Jobi added.

The cement product manufactured by SMBR has been tested and guaranteed in its quality to be used for various government and private companies’ infrastructure development projects in South Sumatra, such as Light Rail Transit (LRT), toll roads, bridges, and even harbors constructions.  

“Maintaining this specialty is our priority so that SMBR can always become the primadonna of cement in South Sumatra”, as he proudly state.

The Social Welfare CSR Forum itself was established to coordinate, initiate, facilitate, and synergize the potential of business performers, social institutions, higher academic institutions, and citizens in order to optimize the implementation of social responsibility in the world of business within the realization of social welfare policies as an effort to hasten the objective attainment of social welfare development.

Semen Baturaja Provides CSR Aid to Victims of Karang Anyar Fire

PALEMBANG – Semen Baturaja just recently has provided emergency relief and response for the victims of fire situated in the area of Tangga Buntung, Gandus district on Friday, 18 October. The fire incident has incinerated at least 30 houses.

The aid, which was allocated from the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) fund, is in the form of money donation and food supplies. The donation was directly presented by the VP Corporate Service Management, Ade Chitra, to around 85 families that have become victims of the incident. We hope that the donations can prove to be helpful for the victims of the fire.

Semen Baturaja Achieved the 11th IICD Corporate Governance & Award 2019

JAKARTA – The Company of Semen Baturaja has been given an award during the 11th Corporate Governance Award 2019 that was held by IICD (Indonesian Institute for Corporate Directorship) at Hotel Pullman Jakarta, on Monday, 14 October. The current IICD award adopted the theme of “Empowering BOC and Its Committees to Ensure GCG Implementation”.

Semen Baturaja has successfully achieved the award for the “Best State Owned Enterprise” within the Mid-Cap category, while also won the “Top 50 Mid Capitalization of Public Listed Company”. The awards were directly accepted by the company’s VP Corporate Secretary, Basthony Santri.

This award is dedicated for public companies that are deemed qualified in their commitment in operating the company’s administration or Good Corporate Governance (GCG).

Semen Baturaja Invites Locals of Ring 1 to Participate in Motorcycle Mechanic Certification and Training

PALEMBANG – Through the CSR program, Semen Baturaja has collaborated with Astra Honda Motor (AHM) to once again arrange Entrepreneurship Training Program concerning “Motorcycle Mechanic Certification and Training”. The training program was held today on Thursday, 10 October in Semen Baturaja’s central office located in Palembang and is being attended by the locals of Ring 1 Kertapati village.

The training was directly being taught by Awi, the representative of Astra Honda Motor, Toga Simamora, from the Ministry of Industry, and also Ari Aryadi, from the Institute of Motorcycle Mechanic Certification Training.

The training program serves as a form of contribution from Semen Baturaja towards the locals living nearby the company’s plant whose aim is to educate and improve the local economy and competitive quality index, particularly in terms of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) startup.

Semen Baturaja Held ‘Yudisium’ and Graduation Ceremony for Diploma 1 Vocational Education Students

On Friday, 4 October 2019, Indonesia-based cement manufacturer PT. Semen Baturaja has just held ‘Yudisium’ and graduation ceremony for chemical engineering and maintenance engineering vocational students. The celebration event was done in collaboration with the Industrial Engineering Academic (IEA) Polytechnic of Makassar and the Ministry of Industry of the Indonesian Republic at Wisma Ganesha PBR.

The grand opening of the ceremony was attended and presented by SMBR Vice President of Human Resource, Fitria Margaretha, along with her colleagues and also by the Director of IEA Polytechnic of Makassar, Amrin Rapi. The awarding of the Diploma 1 degree certificate was directly carried out by the Board for the Development of Industrial Resources and IEA Polytechnic of Makassar to SMBR Vice President of Human Resource.

After about one year of studying process, 38 of Vocational Program students will proceed to enter the real-life work practice in the On The Job Training (OTJT) program. Semen Baturaja has become the first Indonesian state-owned enterprise within the cement industry that handles the Vocational Education program. Said the program aims to produce the most professional, creative, innovative, ready-to-work, and competitive human resources for the coming future.

Semen Baturaja Bayt al-Mal Invites Fatherless Orphans of Rumah Zakat to Watch Hayya 2: Power of Love 2 Together

The Bayt al-Mal of PT. Semen Baturaja, together with Rumah Zakat, has organized a mass screening of the film Hayya 2: The Power of Love on Tuesday, 1 October 2019, in Palembang’s CGV Transmart. Notably, the lead actor of the film, Adhin Abdul hakim, was also present during the screening. 

The mass screening was attended by the management of the Bayt al-Mal while also had invited the entire supervisors, management and talented foster children of South Sumatra’s Rumah Zakat, along with the local community and volunteers there.

The movie is the continuity sequel of 212 The Power of Love that was released on theatre last year. The movie teaches invaluable meaning and moral value, in particular to gain understanding of the meaning of love and faith within Islam.

Post movie screening, it was followed by charity work from Bayt al-Mal for the fostered children of the Rumah Zakat. The donation was personally presented by the leader of the Bayt al-Mal himself, Pramaja Gusnandy, while being observed by the branch manager of South Sumatra’s Rumah Zakat, Hadi Yuhasta.       

What makes this philanthropic occasion so special is because the money earned from the ticket sales will be donated to our Palestinian and Wamenan brothers and sisters who are in need of help.

It is in our wish that this activity might someday bring blessing for both Rumah Zakat and PT. Semen Baturaja.

Semen Baturaja Invites Locals to Participate in Flower Board Craftsmanship Training

In a considerate attempt to help improve the economy and push the development of small businesses, PT. Semen Baturaja has invited the local people living in ring 1 within the nearby area of the company’s head office and Palembang plant to participate in the flower board craftsmanship training.

The training that was held on Thursday, 19 September 2019, was taught by one of the flower shop proprietors, Hendri Radilah.

In their greeting speech, the SMBR Vice President of Corporate Services Management, Ade Chitra, explains that the business of flower board can prove to be a promising home business alternative.   

The flower board business is also one of the probable solutions for those with tight fund.  Due to its ease in acquiring the necessary raw materials, those investing in this business will not have to worry when they start out (the business).
