The current ACGS assessment covers a variety of material topics, including Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) aspects, climate change issues, and management of climate-related risks and opportunities. In addition, the assessment also considers stakeholder engagement, the effectiveness of ESG-related communication channels, the supervisory role of the Board of Directors and Board of Commissioners in sustainability, and the existence of a special management unit responsible for sustainability aspects at SMBR. The quality of the company’s sustainability report is also one of the aspects assessed in this assessment.

BATURAJA – PT Semen Baturaja Tbk (SMBR) as a subsidiary of PT Semen Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (SIG) continues to demonstrate its commitment to supporting the transition to New and Renewable Energy (EBT) through the utilization of Alternative Fuel & Raw Material (AFR).

Alternative fuels and raw materials utilized by SMBR include sludge oil, spent bleaching earth, used oil, used majun, used diapers, and used insulation. “Utilization of this material not only contributes to reducing industrial waste and environmental impacts, but also increases energy efficiency in the cement production process,” said SMBR Vice President of Corporate Secretary Hari Liandu.

Throughout 2024, SMBR managed to utilize 9,401 tons of AFR, an increase of 41% compared to 2023 which reached 6,661 tons. Showing Commitment to Environmentally Friendly Practices, Semen Baturaja Again Wins 2024 Green PROPER Award from KLHK

company activities, News, Press Release, Uncategorized @id

JAKARTA – PT Semen Baturaja Tbk (SMBR) as a subsidiary of PT Semen Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (SIG), has again received the Green Award in the Corporate Performance Rating Program in Environmental Management (PROPER) from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK) of the Republic of Indonesia for its commitment to environmentally friendly practices that go beyond compliance.

This award was received by SMBR’s Operations Director, Muhammad Syafitri, on Monday (24/2) at Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII), Jakarta. This achievement marks two consecutive years of success for SMBR after a similar award was won in 2023, reflecting the company’s consistency in implementing sustainability principles.

“This award is the result of the hard work of all SMBR employees and the support of stakeholders. Sustainability is not just an obligation, but our responsibility to protect the environment,” said Syafitri.

He also expressed his hope that SMBR could achieve better results this year. “We hope to maintain the Green PROPER this year after winning it for two consecutive years. Hopefully our efforts will yield the best results,” he added.

In an effort to preserve the environment, SMBR has implemented various initiatives, such as the use of alternative fuels, waste management, energy efficiency, and the use of environmentally friendly technology.

Among SMBR’s successes in environmental management is the use of alternative fuels (Alternative Fuel & Raw Material/AFR) such as Sludge oil, Spent Bleaching Earth (SBE), Expired Diapers, damaged bags, used oil packaging, and other waste. Throughout 2023, the total AFR utilized reached 6,661 tons. This initiative succeeded in increasing the Thermal Substitution Rate (TSR) value to 3.01%, exceeding the company’s target of 2.40%.

In addition, SMBR has adopted Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology in the form of Expert Optimizer (EO), an Intelligent Process Control System (IPCS) system that has been implemented in factory equipment in the Raw Mill, Kiln, and Cement Mill areas since 2023.

This technology functions to monitor, analyze, and control the production process in real-time, thereby helping to optimize the use of fuel and energy. As a result, the consumption of heat and electricity can be reduced by 2-5% without reducing product quality.

The implementation of this EO has succeeded in reducing emissions by 5,414.05 tons of CO₂-eq, which directly contributes to reducing energy consumption in the production process in 2023. This achievement demonstrates SMBR’s strong commitment to providing efficient, environmentally friendly, and sustainable operations, in line with efforts to support national sustainability targets. BATURAJA – Still in order to commemorate the 2025 National Occupational Safety and Health (K3) Month, PT Semen Baturaja Tbk (SMBR) as a subsidiary of PT Semen Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (SIG) held a blood donation event in three operational locations, namely in Baturaja, Palembang and Panjang.

This blood donation event was held in collaboration with the local Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) including PMI OKU Regency, Palembang City, and Lampung, which was attended by employees and work partners. The blood donation activities in Baturaja and Palembang were held on Wednesday (22/01), while in Panjang on Friday (24/01).

In this blood donation activity, 120 bags were collected. This activity was also attended by President Director Suherman Yahya and Director of Operations Muhammad Syafitri, who also provided support and appreciation to the blood donor participants in Baturaja.

Blood donation is a routine company program held every National K3 Month Activity. Senior Manager of Health, Safety & Environment SMBR Meriadi said that this activity is one of the company’s real steps in encouraging a culture of caring for others in the work environment.

“This activity is real evidence of Semen Baturaja’s concern for the community as well as the company’s contribution in supporting the government’s program to maintain blood availability at PMI. In addition, this activity also reflects the spirit of mutual cooperation and the company’s social responsibility in improving the quality of health together,” said Meriadi.

In addition to blood donation, SMBR has also held various activities in the National K3 Month series, including the Safety Photography Competition, Scaffolding Installation-Dismantling Competition, Safety Rescue Competition, First Aid Kit Filling Competition, and Ranking 1 Competition. This series of activities will later be closed with a Seminar as part of the company’s efforts to create a healthy and productive work environment.

One of the donors, Musep Priana, admitted that he was very enthusiastic about participating in this blood donation activity. “At first I was hesitant to donate blood, but after the medical team explained the benefits, I became more confident. It turned out that the process was also fast and not as painful as I imagined. It feels good to be able to share with others,” he said. (*)
