Improving Masonry Skills, Semen Baturaja Supports the Palembang City Construction Worker Competency Improvement Program Through BNSP Certification

PALEMBANG – PT Semen Baturaja Tbk (SMBR) as a subsidiary of PT Semen Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (SIG) supports the Palembang City PUPR Service in organizing Technical Guidance (Bimtek) and Competency Certification for Skilled Construction Workers for Palembang City this year. This activity is a fairly routine collaboration in the last few years between SMBR, the Palembang City PUPR Service and the Region II Construction Services Center to organize training and certification of masons in the City of Palembang.

The Bimtek which was held at Benteng Kuto Besak Field, Palembang City was attended by approximately 837 participants from various fields of construction. This activity took place from 13 – 18 March 2023 and was attended by the Regional Secretary (Sekda) of Palembang City, Ratu Dewa. It was also attended by the Palembang City Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda) and PUPR Construction Competency & Productivity Director Dedy Natrifahrizal and Palembang City PUPR Service Head Akhmad Bastari, as well as several other echelon 1 officials.

The training was officially opened by the Regional Secretary of Palembang City Ratu Dewa on Monday (13/3). In his remarks, he said that this Bimtek aims to provide skills and knowledge in the construction sector for workers in several fields, so that the quality standards they have are certified. “We want the potential of the workers in Palembang to be competitive,” he said.

He added, this activity is an activity that is beneficial for workers in the future, so they are able to have certification as well as capable skills in their field. In fact, the number of activities that were held was quite large and the largest in Indonesia.

SMBR’s VP of Marketing, Kartha Kurniadi, on the same occasion explained that as a form of commitment and support for this activity, SMBR entered into a cooperation agreement with the PUPR Office of Palembang City last Monday (13/3) to provide facilities and infrastructure for carrying out competence development and empowerment activities as well as construction worker certification. “Construction workers also need to equip themselves with knowledge through hands-on training and practice, which will help improve their skills and competencies to be competitive. This competitiveness will boost the productivity and welfare level of construction workers,” he added.

Head of the Palembang City PUPR Service Akhmad Bastari added “Thank you to Semen Baturaja for collaborating with the Palembang City Government, especially the Palembang City PUPR Service to improve the competence of construction workers in Palembang City. Continue to innovate and support infrastructure development in South Sumatra,” he said when met at the event.
