BATURAJA – Still in order to commemorate the 2025 National Occupational Safety and Health (K3) Month, PT Semen Baturaja Tbk (SMBR) as a subsidiary of PT Semen Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (SIG) held a blood donation event in three operational locations, namely in Baturaja, Palembang and Panjang.

This blood donation event was held in collaboration with the local Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) including PMI OKU Regency, Palembang City, and Lampung, which was attended by employees and work partners. The blood donation activities in Baturaja and Palembang were held on Wednesday (22/01), while in Panjang on Friday (24/01).

In this blood donation activity, 120 bags were collected. This activity was also attended by President Director Suherman Yahya and Director of Operations Muhammad Syafitri, who also provided support and appreciation to the blood donor participants in Baturaja.

Blood donation is a routine company program held every National K3 Month Activity. Senior Manager of Health, Safety & Environment SMBR Meriadi said that this activity is one of the company’s real steps in encouraging a culture of caring for others in the work environment.

“This activity is real evidence of Semen Baturaja’s concern for the community as well as the company’s contribution in supporting the government’s program to maintain blood availability at PMI. In addition, this activity also reflects the spirit of mutual cooperation and the company’s social responsibility in improving the quality of health together,” said Meriadi.

In addition to blood donation, SMBR has also held various activities in the National K3 Month series, including the Safety Photography Competition, Scaffolding Installation-Dismantling Competition, Safety Rescue Competition, First Aid Kit Filling Competition, and Ranking 1 Competition. This series of activities will later be closed with a Seminar as part of the company’s efforts to create a healthy and productive work environment.

One of the donors, Musep Priana, admitted that he was very enthusiastic about participating in this blood donation activity. “At first I was hesitant to donate blood, but after the medical team explained the benefits, I became more confident. It turned out that the process was also fast and not as painful as I imagined. It feels good to be able to share with others,” he said. (*)

This activity is also the peak of a series of events, previously SMBR had carried out various activities such as fashion shows, badminton tournaments, quizzes, tennis, idols, basketball, futsal, fun walks and E-Sports.

Present at this event were the Board of Directors of SMBR, including President Director Suherman Yahya, Director (Finance & HR Function) Rahmat Hidayat, and Director of Operations Muhammad Syafitri, as well as the Board of Commissioners consisting of the President Commissioner who is also an Independent Commissioner Alex Iskandar Munaf, Commissioner Hadi Daryanto, Independent Commissioner Chowadja Sanova and Inosentius Samsul and SMBR employees. As a concrete form of the BUMN Social Responsibility Program (TJSL), SMBR distributes various social assistance from the fields of education, health, and community economic empowerment. In this anniversary celebration, SMBR distributed Education Assistance for orphans, half-brothers, and underprivileged children worth IDR 88 million to 240 elementary, junior high, and high school children from Ring 1 covering 6 sub-districts (Sukajadi, Air Gading, Talang Jawa, Tanjung Agung, Saung Naga, and Batu Kuning) and 2 villages (Pusar and Laya), then Education Scholarships for Higher Education worth IDR 30 million to 50 outstanding students from Baturaja University (UNBARA). In addition, through cooperation with Baznas (National Zakat Agency) of South Sumatra Province, SMBR distributed assistance for renovations, medical equipment, and operational support for the Village Health Post (Poskeskel) in Air Gading Village. Then the assistance of the MSME empowerment program through the Z-Chicken business program from Baznas with a total assistance of IDR 95 million for 10 Z-Chicken MSMEs. The assistance came from the Zakat Fund of the Directors and Employees of SMBR.

As part of its commitment to supporting education, the Semen Baturaja Employee Wives Association (IIKSB) also contributed to distributing educational assistance for 81 outstanding children, including 28 elementary school students worth a total of IDR 14 million, 20 junior high school students worth a total of IDR 15 million, 23 high school students worth a total of IDR 23 million, then 10 university students worth a total of 15 million.

Still in the series of 50th Anniversary celebrations, SMBR also held a Journalism Competition which was open to journalists until December 21, 2024. This competition aims to appreciate journalistic works that provide accurate information regarding SMBR’s contribution to national and social development, with a theme in accordance with this year’s SMBR Anniversary theme.

During 2023, SMBR managed to record positive performance in terms of both revenue and profit. Revenue in 2023 amounted to IDR 2.04 trillion, an increase of 8% from 2022 of IDR 1.88 trillion. Meanwhile, the 2023 net profit of IDR121.57 billion shot up 57% compared to the 2022 profit of IDR77.32 billion.

This program will take place from 5 – 12 November 2024 as part of a series of celebrations for SMBR’s 50th anniversary with the theme “Synergy in Building Sustainability”. The SMBR Mengajar program aims to provide education to realize the vision of Indonesia Emas 2045 by improving the quality of human resources that include insights such as knowledge about the cement industry, sustainability principles, and career opportunities in the industrial sector for the younger generation.

The entire Board of Directors participated as speakers, including President Director Suherman Yahya, Director (Finance and HR Function) Rahmat Hidayat, and Director of Operations Muhammad Syafitri. Participation also came from SMBR echelon I, including Vice President of Production Taufik, Vice President of HC & Governance, Risk, and Compliance Fitria Margaretha, and Vice President of Maintenance and Vice President of Technical Plant Eko David Irawan.

The Directors became speakers at universities, namely Sriwijaya University (UNSRI), Baturaja University (UNBARA), and the Sumatra Institute of Technology (ITERA). Then for SMBR echelon I officials became speakers at high schools, namely SMA Negeri 1 Palembang, SMK Negeri 3 OKU, and SMA SMTI Bandar Lampung. This is realized through active participation in the Karya Nyata Festival which will take place on 5-6 October 2024 at the South Sumatra Provincial DPRD Yard, Palembang City. The festival, which has entered its 11th volume, is an initiative of the Ministry of SOEs to encourage MSMEs as the main pillars driving the national economy.

Through Rumah BUMN Baturaja, SMBR invites 10 superior products of its fostered MSMEs to appear in this festival. Some of them are Kurcok, Sakinah Cookies and Crackers, D’crispy Banana and Pare, Macho Chips, Ngopi Kuday, Mustofa Potatoes, DIHI Honey and Kemplang Tunu Fitriah. This participation provides an opportunity for fostered MSMEs to introduce their products to the wider community, while expanding their business networks and marketing potential.

Not only supporting fostered MSMEs through product exhibitions, SMBR was also one of the speakers in a talk show session with the theme “Building a Successful Business in Collaboration with Rumah BUMN” represented by Senior Manager of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) SMBR Gili Aprial Braja.

Gili emphasized the importance of synergy between BUMN and MSMEs in creating sustainable business growth. He also shared the success story of Rumah BUMN Baturaja as a strategic partner for MSMEs in South Sumatra.

Furthermore, Gili revealed that SMBR is currently fostering more than 260 MSMEs under the auspices of Rumah BUMN Baturaja. They are divided into several categories, such as Go Digital, Go Online, and UMKM Naik Kelas. “A total of 19 UMKM have successfully upgraded. We actively provide training and mentoring, helping UMKM in increasing their capacity to be more competitive in the market,” he concluded.

In addition, the event was also attended by Special Staff III of the Minister of BUMN Arya Mahendra Sinulingga who revealed that so far it has been quite difficult for UMKM to get a strategic sales location.

“For that, with the presence of Rumah BUMN which is ready to provide support for UMKM fostered by BUMN, it is hoped that it can facilitate a strategic place for UMKM to sell. If UMKM advances, the economy will advance, and BUMN can continue to support UMKM,” said Arya.
