Zero Work Accidents, Semen Baturaja Successfully Carried Out Overhaul of Baturaja II Factory

BATURAJA – PT Semen Baturaja Tbk (SMBR) as a subsidiary of PT Semen Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (SIG) carried out an overhaul of the Baturaja II Factory, Ogan Komering Ulu Regency, South Sumatra. The factory overhaul will be carried out over 17 days starting from February 22 2024.
This factory, which has been operating since 2017, has a production capacity of up to 1.85 million tons and is SMBR’s newest factory, whose construction took 26 months. It is claimed to be the fastest integrated cement factory construction project in Indonesia.
SMBR Operations Function Director, Muhammad Syafitri, explained that this overhaul was carried out to maintain the performance of production machines in optimal condition and maintain operational efficiency of factory production equipment.
“Every year, the factory must undergo a routine overhaul or comprehensive maintenance process. “This process aims to overcome damage or abnormalities in equipment by repairing or replacing damaged components,” said Syafitri.
Apart from that, to avoid work accidents during the overhaul, SMBR applies the principles of Occupational Safety and Health (K3) so that it is successful in achieving zero work accidents during the end of the overhaul activity.
SMBR Vice President of Maintenance, Eko David Irawan emphasized that the success of achieving zero accidents during overhaul implementation cannot be separated from the company’s commitment to K3 principles, as well as the compliance of all employees in identifying potential hazards in the work environment and implementing appropriate mitigation measures, accompanied by the delivery of safety briefings. which is carried out regularly.
“We hope that all parties play an active role in reminding fellow colleagues, paying attention to every appropriate procedure and making K3 an inherent behavior within each of us,” stressed Eko.
Thanks to the company’s commitment to K3 principles, at the beginning of March SMBR succeeded in winning two Zero Accident Awards (Zero Accident Award) at the South Sumatra Provincial Government (Pemprov Sumsel) in 2024. Two awards were received by SMBR for its achievements in implementing the 2024 K3 Program, in particular to SMBR’s two operational areas, namely the Cement Milling and Packing Factory in Palembang City and the Baturaja Factory located in Ogan Komering Ulu (OKU) Regency.
