Through Public Lectures, Semen Baturaja Implements the K3 Management System at Baturaja University

BATURAJA – In order to increase awareness of safety and comfort and increase understanding of the Occupational Safety and Health Management System (SMK3) in the campus environment, the Faculty of Environmental Engineering, Baturaja University (UNBARA) held a public lecture at the UNBARA Auditorium, Ogan Komering Ulu, South Sumatra on Saturday ( 9/9).

In this lecture, PT Semen Baturaja Tbk (SMBR) as a subsidiary of PT Semen Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (SIG) was appointed as one of the resource persons represented by SMBR Health & Safety Manager Masagus Fatahillah and accompanied by other resource persons including the University Chancellor Prabumulih Dr. Yuniar Pratiwi, S.Si, M.Si and UNBARA Professor of Environmental Engineering Prof. Dr. Hasmawaty AR, M.T

The public lecture entitled “Implementation of the K3 Management System in Efforts to Increase Safety Awareness in the Independent Campus Environment of Baturaja University” was attended by 150 students. On that occasion the Chancellor of UNBARA, Ir. Lindawati MZ, M.T.

The event was opened by remarks from UNBARA Chancellor Ir. Lindawati MZ, M.T, she said that higher education as a formal educational institution whose one goal is to produce work-ready graduates, is that it is very important to instill safety values from an early age in students.

“It is not only safety related to K3 that is conceptualized, but safety as a value, spirit and culture in all fields,” said Lindawati.

In his material, Masagus Fatahillah as an K3 practitioner in the SMBR environment gave a message that safety can become a culture so that the UNBARA Campus becomes a safe and comfortable place for all groups.

“In several industrial sectors there are regulations and safety standards that must be adhered to to protect workers, company assets and the community environment. The implementation and improvement of safety awareness aims to ensure that organizations and individuals can comply with these rules and regulations. “I hope that UNBARA University has the same understanding regarding this matter, so that in the future it can produce the best graduates who, when they enter the world of work and industry, already understand the application of K3,” explained Fatahillah.

UNBARA Chancellor Ir. Lindawati MZ, M.T expressed her gratitude to the agencies and companies that have provided education to students regarding K3. It is hoped that this education can make students understand better what K3 is and can apply it wherever they are.

“In the future, Baturaja University will implement K3 and SMK3 culture in the campus environment,” said Lindawati in front of hundreds of students.

Separately, SMBR Vice President of Corporate Secretary Basthony Santri said this was a form of the company’s concern for the community, one of which is in the education sector.

“Here, the company’s role in supporting education is very important to produce personnel who truly understand K3 procedures and implementation,” concluded Basthony.(*)
