Supporting New Energy Innovation, Semen Baturaja Wins an Award

PALEMBANG – PT Semen Baturaja Tbk (SMBR) as a subsidiary of PT Semen Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (SIG) won an award at the Sumsel Tribune Award event entitled “1001 New Energy Innovations for the Country from Sriwijaya Earth”. The event organized by the Sumsel Tribune was held on Thursday (13/7) at Griya Agung Palembang City.

SMBR’s efforts received an award and appreciation from the Sumsel Tribune and was named a company that supports New Energy Innovation. The award was given directly by the Governor of South Sumatra H. Herman Deru who was accompanied by the Chairman of the South Sumatra Provincial DPRD R.A. Anita Noeringhati and the Head of the Sriwijaya Post Newsroom and the Sumsel Tribune Yudie Thirzano and were received directly by the Main Director of SMBR Daconi Khotob.

Based on data compiled by the Sumsel Tribune from the 2022 IQAir Air Pollution Report, Indonesia is ranked 26th in terms of the highest pollution globally. Therefore, the government and all companies engaged in the energy sector are promoting the use of renewable energy and energy transition programs to achieve the 2060 Net Zero Emission target.

In realizing this, SMBR supports the government’s efforts to achieve the Net Zero Emission (NZE) target with various programs that have been implemented such as encouraging the production sector to the use of environmentally friendly cement-making raw materials that produce low-carbon exhaust gases.

“Many other efforts have been made by Semen Baturaja to support NZE, namely by optimizing the use of waste as AFR, implementing silviculture in public areas, solar power projects, industrial transformation 4.0, the IPCS program and others,” said Daconi.

“Thank you for the award given, this is SMBR’s commitment and concern in protecting the environment by implementing a sustainability movement for better energy solutions,” he added. (*)
