Semen Baturaja Encourages OKU Residents to Become Investment Literate Through Capital Market Education

BATURAJA – PT Semen Baturaja Tbk (SMBR), a subsidiary of PT Semen Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (SIG), collaborated with the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) and KB Valbury Securities in the Financial Literacy: Getting to Know the Capital Market Closer event, held at Ganesha Arena, Baturaja on Tuesday (November 11) in commemoration of SMBR’s 51st anniversary.

This fifth batch of the event was attended by participants consisting of the general public, students from various universities in Ogan Komering Ulu (OKU) Regency, and members of the Semen Baturaja Employees’ Wives Association (IIKSB). The goal was to increase the understanding of the younger generation and the SMBR internal community regarding the importance of financial literacy and inclusion in the capital market.

In total, this financial literacy program has been held in five batches, with a total of over 500 participants.

Also present at the event were SMBR Operations Director Taufik, Pramaja Gusnady, Head of the IDX-SMBR Digital Investment Gallery, Hari Mulyono, Head of the South Sumatra Region of the IDX South Sumatra Representative Office, and a team from the Palembang Branch of Valbury Securities, who provided investment education and simulations to participants.

In his remarks, SMBR Operations Director Taufik stated that this activity demonstrated the company’s commitment to supporting increased financial literacy in the community.

“This activity demonstrates Semen Baturaja’s commitment to supporting increased financial literacy and inclusion, particularly in the capital markets. Through our collaboration with the Indonesia Stock Exchange and Valbury Securities, we strive to provide a broader understanding of the importance of wise and responsible investment to SMBR employees and the surrounding community,” Taufik said.

He added that the participants’ enthusiasm demonstrated their strong interest in the world of investment.

“We are very proud that this activity was attended by many enthusiastic participants who wanted to learn and understand the capital market, both for stock investments and other instruments. With the right knowledge, investing in the capital market can be a wise way to increase side income,” he added.

Meanwhile, Hari Mulyono, Head of the South Sumatra Region of the IDX South Sumatra Representative Office, expressed his appreciation for SMBR’s initiative in educating the public and employees about investing in the capital market.

“We welcome this collaboration because the synergy between industry and the capital market is crucial for increasing financial inclusion in the region. Many people still consider investing complicated, when in fact it’s quite simple—investing means putting our funds to good use for future growth. Through activities like this, we want to emphasize that the capital market is not just for certain groups, but is open to anyone who wants to learn and invest properly,” Hari explained.

One participant, Inti Pitasari from the Baturaja Islamic College (STAI), said she gained many new insights from this activity.

“I really appreciate PT Semen Baturaja for organizing this financial literacy activity. In today’s digital era, information about capital markets and digital investment is crucial for us as the younger generation. Through this activity, we are facilitated to better understand how capital markets work and how to invest wisely,” said Pitasari.

Through this activity, Semen Baturaja hopes to continue playing an active role in improving financial literacy and raising public awareness of the importance of managing finances intelligently and productively. (*)
