Quick Disaster Response Action, Semen Baturaja Distributes Aid to Flood Victims in OKU Regency

BATURAJA – The floods that hit Baturaja, Ogan Komering Ulu (OKU) Regency, South Sumatra Province which have occurred since Tuesday (7/5) have submerged thousands of houses, educational, public facilities and places of worship. Seeing this condition, PT Semen Baturaja Tbk (SMBR) as a subsidiary of PT Semen Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (SIG) carried out a Rapid Disaster Response Action by distributing various aid to communities affected by the flood.

Quick Disaster Response Action carried out by SMBR by establishing two Public Kitchens for affected Ring 1 Communities around the operational area, including Laya Village and Pusar Village. The aid distributed was in the form of public kitchen equipment, tents and basic food assistance.

As of Wednesday (8/5) SMBR had distributed basic food aid in the amount of 200 kg of rice, 100 boxes of instant noodles, 10 crates of eggs, 20 cans of milk, 20 boxes of tea, 20 boxes of coffee, 50 kg of sugar, 100 cans of sardines, 100 boxes of mineral water. and Vegetables.

SMBR Vice President of Corporate Secretary, Hari Liandu expressed his deep concern about the flood tragedy that hit Baturaja. He hopes that the emergency situation will not be prolonged, so that people can immediately return to their normal activities. In an effort to help ease the burden on the community in this emergency situation, SMBR has sent assistance through the Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) program.

“We are also concerned and saddened by the flood disaster that occurred in Baturaja. As our concern for the affected communities, we set up a public kitchen and provided basic food assistance. “This assistance is a form of our concern which we hope will provide benefits to the community in meeting their daily needs,” said Hari.

Apart from that, SMBR also handed over basic food assistance to the OKU Regency Government which was handed over directly to the PJ Regent of OKU Teddy Meilwansyah by the Senior Manager of Corporate Social Responsibility of SMBR Gili April Braja on Wednesday (8/5) at the PJ Regent of OKU’s official residence.

Acting Regent of OKU, Teddy Meilwansyah appreciated and expressed his gratitude to SMBR for showing its concern for the people of OKU Regency. “We, on behalf of the OKU Regency Government, would like to express our deepest gratitude for the assistance that has been provided. God willing, we will distribute it to residents who need it. Hopefully this assistance will be useful to help ease the burden on the affected residents,” said Teddy.

Gili added that not only that, SMBR also helped supply clean water to flood victims. “We deployed two company fire engines with a total capacity of 14,000 liters to supply clean water to the affected areas. “Hopefully our assistance can be useful for the people affected by the flood disaster in Baturaja,” he added.
