Industry 4.0 Transformation: SMBR is Ready to Implement Industry 4.0 Processes Through AI-Based Technology Development

PALEMBANG – PT Semen Baturaja (Persero) Tbk (SMBR) has carried out the Indonesia Industry 4.0 Readiness Index (INDI 4.0) assessment with an assessment score of 3.0 based on the expose of INDI 4.0 verification results on December 10, 2021 by the Center for Materials and Technical Goods ( B4T). This score shows that SMBR is at the Mature Readiness level.

The assessment is in order to measure the company’s level of readiness to transform towards industry 4.0 in accordance with the follow-up to the Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of SOEs and the Ministry of Industry regarding the Implementation of the Indonesia Industry 4.0 Readiness Index (INDI 4.0) for SOEs.
SMBR is currently preparing for the development of Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based technology. This program is one of the Company’s efforts in preparing the company to transform towards industry 4.0 and is a form of support for the Making BUMN 4.0 Program as part of the Making Indonesia 4.0 Program.

In 2021, SMBR has implemented the Intelligence Process Control System in the pyroprocessing (combustion) process and is planning to continue in the milling process. In addition, in 2022, SMBR also plans to implement AI-based Predictive Maintenance for main plant equipment.

“The development of AI-based Predictive Maintenance is targeted to be ready for application in December 2022.” said Director of Production and Development of SMBR Daconi.

Currently, SMBR has formed an Industry 4.0 Transformation team which aims to prepare SMBR to transform towards industry 4.0 with a target score of 3.5 in 2024.
The Company supports this industrial 4.0 transformation program because along with the times, the Company must be able to keep up with technological developments. Through the implementation of industry 4.0, the Company will be able to improve product quality, increase productivity, and a more efficient production process so that it is expected to be able to increase competitiveness and can further support the progress of the Indonesian economy.

Not only that, the implementation of the industrial 4.0 process through the development of AI-based technology will strengthen IT operational systems and cyber security, as well as prepare competent human resources, while continuing to prioritize excellent service in ensuring customer satisfaction.{}
