Increasing Awareness of Work Accidents in Mining Areas, Semen Baturaja Conducts Work Safety Inspections

BATURAJA – PT Semen Baturaja Tbk (SMBR) as a subsidiary of PT Semen Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (SIG), continues to emphasize its commitment to occupational safety in mining areas. On Friday (20/9), SMBR conducted a joint inspection with management in the mining area as part of the implementation of the Circular of the Director of Engineering and Environment/Chief Mining Inspector of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Number: 12.E/MB.07/DBT.KP/2024 issued on September 9, 2024.
Also present at the activity were the President Director of SMBR, Suherman Yahya, Director of Operations, Muhammad Syafitri, and Head of Mining Engineering (KTT) as well as Vice President of Mining & Waste Management, Muhammad Beni. Also present were the Mining Operational Officers (PJO) who were directly involved in mining activities.
Previously, on Thursday (19/9), SMBR also held an inspection and morning assembly led by Muhammad Beni. This activity follows up on the Circular of the Director of Engineering and Environment of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Number: 10.E/MB.07/DBT.KP/2024 concerning “Lessons Learned from Mining Safety Cases in July 2024 and Morning Roll Call Orders and Joint Inspections.” The activity was attended by all mine workers and aims to increase awareness and prevent accidents in the mining area.
This inspection aims to strengthen the company’s commitment to mining safety and appreciate the performance of the Department of Mining & Waste Management team who have maintained the supply of raw materials for cement production optimally. SMBR also emphasized its achievement in maintaining high occupational safety standards with Zero Fatality, namely without any fatal accidents in mining operations.
On that occasion, the President Director of SMBR, Suherman Yahya, conveyed the importance of continuing to implement a safety culture in every line of work. “Safety is our top priority. We are committed to always mitigating risks with the aim of preventing work accidents and occupational diseases,” said Suherman.
A similar thing was also conveyed by the Director of Operations of SMBR, Muhammad Syafitri, he added that risk mitigation is a key element in preventing work accidents. “We continue to evaluate and improve the work safety process. Employee safety is the main priority,” he said.
Head of Mining Engineering (KTT) Muhammad Beni said, “Inspection activities like this are a reminder for all employees to always be vigilant and comply with established safety procedures. The success of maintaining Zero Fatality is the result of the hard work of the entire team, and we must continue to maintain it with high discipline.”
This inspection is expected to maintain Zero Fatality and improve safety sustainably. Workers, supervisors, and Operational Persons (PJO) are expected to be more compliant with established safety procedures, with a focus on socialization and implementation of stricter rules. In addition, this activity also aims to strengthen the safety culture at all operational levels, encouraging all parties to actively minimize the risk of accidents. (*)
