Focusing on Sustainability Development, Semen Baturaja Wins Gold Rank Award in Asia Sustainability Report Rating 2023

JAKARTA – PT Semen Baturaja Tbk (SMBR) as a subsidiary of PT Semen Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (SIG) succeeded in winning the ‘Gold Rank’ award in the 2023 Asia Sustainability Reporting Rating (ASSRAT) event which was held at the Raffles Hotel, Jakarta on Monday (6/ 11). This award was received directly by SMBR Vice President of Corporate Secretary Basthony Santri.

The ASRRAT Award is an event for assessing the quality of sustainability reports based on Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standards. The assessment is carried out by competent assessors (Certified SR Specialists). This award was organized by the National Center for Corporate Reporting (NCCR) and the Institute of Certified Sustainability Practitioners (ICSP) and was participated by domestic and foreign companies.

SMBR VP of Corporate Secretary Basthony Santri said this was the second award for SMBR, in the previous year SMBR also won the same award. This achievement is proof of SMBR’s commitment to supporting sustainable development which is consistently implemented through various innovations carried out every year.

“This appreciation certainly encourages SMBR to always improve SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) principles and ESG (Environment, Social, Governance) performance in every operational activity, this is in line with realizing the company’s vision of becoming the leading Green Cement Based Building Material Company in Indonesia, “concluded Basthony.”

He added that SMBR carries out this commitment by releasing sustainable reports which are used to assess the achievements of programs that have been implemented in various sustainable aspects including environmental, socio-economic and community empowerment aspects. So that the company can have a greater impact and carry out comprehensive evaluations and improvements in the future to strengthen the company’s performance more positively.

“Programs that SMBR has carried out include the Environmental Conservation Movement program which includes reducing carbon emissions, efficient use of water, managing B3 waste and implementing the 4R (Reduce, Recycle, Reuse, Recovery) system as well as protecting biodiversity, then implementing good governance and empowerment. community through the TJSL (Social and Environmental Responsibility) Program,” concluded Basthony.
